about
Section I
Play and sustain any sound(s)/pitch(es) for any duration or remain silent. Instruments with short sustain may rearticulate continuously (e.g. roll, frullato, tremolo picking, etc.). Whenever someone stops, the others must stop. An indeterminate rest follows until someone starts again. Repeat any number of times before proceeding to the next section.
Section II
A
Improvise for any duration or remain silent.
Whenever someone does one of the following, the others must imitate for as long as desired:
· Stop
· Play or slide into and sustain an extreme low or extreme high pitch
· Slow down or accelerate
· Play extremely soft or extremely loud
· Vocal sounds (may be accompanied by instrument)
B
Whenever someone does one of the following, the others must imitate for as long as desired:
· Repetition
· Pulse
· Melody
· Rhythm
Section III
Anyone plays a short sound, pitch, or chord; the others attempt to follow immediately after with a short strike as well. An indeterminate rest follows until someone starts again. As this is repeated, separation between sounds, as well as their duration, progressively increase, eventually overlapping. When a considerable duration is reached, tones may be altered by glissandi or trills, and articulations may be slowed down or accelerated.
