'Quartet' is a guided improvisation piece in three sections that functions on the constant interactions between players imitating and interrupting each other. Section I consists of sustained collective textures and rests. Section II, in two parts, establishes a list of gestures to be imitated, which change between parts. In Section III, sounds are initially short and immediate from each other; as playing continues, they become longer and more separated.
'Sileo' explores the dynamic restraint of the performer and improvisation in low volumes. The Latin word sileo means – ‘I am silent’, ‘I am quiet’, ‘I am inactive. It represents a reflection on quietness as experienced by each individual player.
'Cartoon Panels' is a graphic score comprised of 36 drawings shown in succession by a conductor. The drawings elicit various spontaneous responses from the performers, creating a real-time soundtrack to each of the scenes.
